Functional bar 20 kg VBC, well it´s for functional training. The bar is coated with magnesium phosphate, which makes it black and it won´t start to fade away. Sleeves, bearings and the build of the bar is made for high rep training, where the barbell is dropped many times .There is no center knurling in this bar.
Functional bar 20 kg VBC Specs:
Length: 2200 mm (IWF standard)
Bar diameter: 28 mm
Sleeve diameter: 50 mm
Sleeve length: 415 mm
Weight 20 kg
Tensile strength: 216 000 psi
Yield strength: 206 000 psi
Bearing: bronze bushing
Knurling: mild
Whip: there is more whip in this barbell than power lifting bars, but less than in weightlifting competition barbells.
Knurling can be considered mild, like in most functional bars. Steel alloy is top quality and it has been forged/ hardened so that the knurling won´t wear in use.
We have changed are barbell manufacturer and in the future all our barbells will be made with only one thing in mind excellence.
All of our barbells are made of closely chosen chrome molybdenum steel alloy.
This steel alloy has excellent tensile strength and anti corrosion properties. The same steel alloy is usually used in the most excruciating building and manufacturing applications. lately the price of steel has gone up, but we haven´t changed our steel materials to cheaper, because we want to hold our high quality standards.
Tensile strength: max load that the barbell can hold without breaking. If the number is 216 000 psi, it means the bar can hold up to 680 kg loads.
Yield strength: max load the bar can hold without bending. We will tell you this number too, because sometimes the Tensile strength gives you wrong information about the quality of the bar.
Who wants to lift with bar that is bent? Usually yield strength is about 5% less than the tensile strength, this depends on the properties of the steel alloy.
Because our barbell manufacturer has decades of experience, they have come to a conclusion that quality barbell should have at least 210 000 psi tensile strength. If the tensile strength is less than 180 000, it should not be used anything but light lifts and lifts where you do not drop the bar. In the long run the bar will break or bend.
Our barbell manufacturers strength measurements have been done by outside laboratory.
