The biggest advantage is the firmness and fixed width of the stand. You don´t have to think about where you should place the stand because the uprights are at the same width all the time. This might be the also the stands biggest weakness. Because it is pretty hard to move around and it takes a lot of space in comparison to just two separate uprights.
